- VCSA Toronto presents Len Duong
Canada 2006 at the Annual Ignite UVSA Cultural
Show. What is the vision of Vietnamese youth in our community? On
March 4, 2006, Yen Xuan Nguyen and Maxwell Vo of VCSA Toronto, presented
their dream.
I Have A Dream…
In the spirit of Martin Luther King, a great
visionary and activist himself, we are gathered here today, united
as Vietnamese Canadians.
Let us not wallow in the valley of passivity, I
say to you today, my friends.
Even though we may face difficulties and the hectic
schedules of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream
deeply rooted in the Vietnamese and Canadian dream.
I have a dream that one day everyone in this room
will rise up and live out their true potential as active citizens.
I have a dream that one day, the Vietnamese youth
of Canada, sons and daughters of country far away, will be able
to sit down together at the table of leaders.
I have a dream that one day Vietnamese people in
Canada, will have a place in government, in the top executive positions
in business, in law, in medicine, in social work, and in ensuring
peace, justice and freedom for all Canadians and Vietnamese.
I have a dream that not only us, but our children
will live in this multicultural nation where they will not be judged
by the color of their skin and the slant of their eyes but be embraced
lovingly by their home in Canada and embrace passionately their
Vietnamese heritage, language and customs.
II have a dream today!
WE HAVE A DREAM
Tuoi tre: Dan than
Tuoi tre: Phuc vu
Tuoi tre: Len Duong!
If you share this dream to be a passionate leader;
to unite with other Vietnamese Canadians across the nation, to develop
the skills to serve, to excel and be the best that you can be, come
to Len Duong Canada and dare to be inspired.
Thank you.

- Thả Thơ at Hội Chợ Tết
Toronto 2006. We celebrated the Lunar New Year by testing your
knowledge of some of Vietnamese language's best poetry. All proceeds
from this fun challenge went towards Camp Len Duong Canada
2006. Hội Chợ Tết Toronto 2006 is organized by
the Vietnamese Association of Toronto and was held Saturday, January
28, 2006 at Hershey
Centre in Mississauga.
With the help of VCSA-Houston, VCSA-Toronto brought
Tha Tho to the Hershey Centre. Even with freezing indoor temperatures,
both teams worked tirelessly and enthusiastically to entertain attendees
in a guessing game of Vietnamese poetry (Tha Tho). Although the
phrases seemed obvious at first, even well studied authors guessed
incorrectly! Surprisingly, many youths dropped by the booth to play
the game. All female volunteers were beautifully outfitted in traditional
Vietnamese dress (Ao Dai), either selling tokens for the game or
disclosing the answers for each phrase. Co Le Ba provided the audience
with lovely music, sung opera style, giving hints but fooling the
audience most of the time. Who would have thought a game, set up
like a multiple-choice test would be so tricky yet so addictive?
The crowd had a blast and laughs could be heard everywhere. Certainly
the site of a Vietnamese Vanna White was an attention grabber. Beside
the Tha Tho booth, the Len Duong promotional table displayed pictures
taken at past LD camps and information about VCSA. Tha Tho, a promising
yearly activity at Hoi Cho Tet!
A special thank you goes out to members of
VCSA-Houston, Mr. Bao Nguyen, Ms. Anh Lan Nguyen, Mr. Nong Duy
Truong and anh Michael Dao for flying all the way from Texas !
Your spirit and dedication will always be remembered and appreciated.

- An evening of fine dining, live entertainment
and dancing as the Vietnamese Community celebrates the 2nd Annual
Gala Xuan organized by the Vietnamese Association of Toronto. All
proceeds went towards Camp Len Duong Canada 2006. The Gala
Xuan 2006 was held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Woodbine
Banquet Hall in Rexdale.
VCSA Toronto started working
on the concept of a Vietnamese Canadian youth leadership camp in
the summer of 2005. Six months and countless hours of planning and
preparation later, Lên Ðuờng Canada (LÐC) was
officially introduced to the community during the annual VAT Gala
Dinner in January 2006. In front of hundreds of members of the Vietnamese
community in Toronto , the LÐC team delivered a powerful presentation
on its vision, and gave people insight into LÐC 2006, the very
first Vietnamese youth leadership camp of its kind to be organized
in Canada . With VAT’s great generosity and strong belief
in investing in today’s
Vietnamese youth to build future community leaders,
all proceeds from the Gala Dinner were directed to the fundraising
project for LÐC 2006. The LÐC team was also blessed with
the presence of its title platinum sponsor, E*TRADE Canada . Not
only was the Gala Dinner a night of fine dining and exquisite live
entertainment, it also marked the successful introduction of LÐC
to the Vietnamese community in Toronto.
