Introduction

The Vietnamese Culture and Science Association of Toronto (VCSA Toronto) was established in July 2005 as a chapter of the VCSA. Already, it has 20 members, consisting of young and dedicated Vietnamese-Canadian professionals, students, and active members of the community. The VCSA Toronto is proud to be the first Canadian chapter of the VCSA.

Mission Statement

The Vietnamese Culture & Science Association of Toronto's main goal is congruent with the VCSA’s mission of promoting harmony and cooperation amongst members of the Vietnamese community, in particular, Vietnamese-Canadians in the Culture and Science fields, providing a multi-faceted environment where young Vietnamese-Canadian professionals can exchange ideas, share skills and participate in the building of a strong Vietnamese community overseas.

Goals

The VCSA Toronto's goals are as follows:

  • Promote cooperation amongst Vietnamese-Canadian professionals in exchanging their skills and participating in programs and activities to build a strong Vietnamese-Canadian community in Canada in general, and in Toronto in particular.
  • Preserve the Vietnamese heritage among Vietnamese-Canadians and promote cultural awareness to fellow Canadians through a variety of regular programs and activities.
  • Promote increased participation in community events and activities among Vietnamese-Canadians
  • Work collaboratively with other community organizations, agencies and outreach services in Toronto to better serve the community
  • Provide training opportunities for Vietnamese-Canadians to build a strong sense of responsibility, to develop their skills as future leaders and to become active citizens that contribute positively to the nation.
  • Promote democracy and advocate for human rights in Canada as well as in Vietnam using peaceful means such as public awareness and community activism.
  • Promote harmony with other Asian communities and with the mainstream society.
