As many of you know, our Vietnamese community is in dire need of education regarding substance abuse that could possibly lead to gang violence. In order to have a safe and healthy environment, we need to bring this type of awareness to the attention of young adolescents and their parents. Most of our Vietnamese parents today work 12 to 14 hours a day trying to make ends meet which makes it even more difficult to keep up with their childrens' school life as well as social life.
This is an excellent opportunity for teenagers, parents, grandparents, or parent-to-be individuals to attend this very educated seminar. There will be guestspeakers from:
Independent School Disctrict (HISD) Drug Safety Dept, Ms. Cherry Sublett
and Houston Police Department (HPD) Substance Abuse Dept, officer Sonny La
and a clinical psychologist from Baylor College of Medicine, PhD. Dzung Ngo.
They will point out the signs and symptoms of one who is under the influence as well as providing helpful advice in counseling and talking to young teens about how to avoid peer pressure.
Please do come out and support not only your community but also to gather important information that you may, one day, have to use as a parent.
For more information, please call Dr. Tram Ho at 713-271-4197 or Mr. Hung Le at 281-568-3282. We do have limited seats, please call to pre-register.
There will be FREE lunch served from 12-1pm.Seminar organized by VCSA and sponsored by Baylor College of Medicine.
